Based on an initial presentation of the idea of forgetting in Nietzsche and Freud, highlighting the ambivalent nature that surrounds this idea in both authors, the purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis that, in both authors, alongside forgetting understood as a type of amnesia, it is possible to consider an idea of active forgetting and an expression of a state of health. What is presented as a digestion of past impressions, in Nietzsche, and as the introduction of these impressions into associative processes, in Freud. Thus, in both, despite the conceptual and methodological differences that separate the philosopher and the physician in their treatment of the subject, it would be possible to identify an idea of forgetting that can be taken sometimes as a means, sometimes as a sign of strength and health.Downloads
