Abstract

Since the beginning, Freud established a relationship with philosophy which can only be characterized with a technical term from psychoanalysis: ambivalence. He built his discipline against philosophy - he intended to distinguish psychoanalysis from a simple world-views - and through philosophy- he was deeply influenced by philosophers such as Empedocle, Plato, Kant, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche. That was an attitude of both affirmation and denegation. Key-words: Freud; Philosophy; ambivalence; conception of the world.
