Abstract

This article aims to elucidate and compare the conceptions of thinking according to Bion and Winnicott. The study begins with a detailed analysis of Bion's theory of thinking, particularly in the context of psychosis, as explored in his 1962 paper "A Theory of Thinking". Subsequently, Winnicott's view on the development of thinking is examined, emphasizing his approach to emotional maturity and the integration of the self. Building on this, the article undertakes a thorough comparison between the psychoanalytic techniques of both theorists, focusing on a clinical case of schizophrenia treated by Bion in his 1953 essay "Notes on Schizophrenia".
