This communication intends to discuss, based on Freudianconsiderations, the primary identity that governs rhe psychic life in the period before the emergence of the self. Grounded on C. Castoriadis' reading of the "Freudian unconscious", the communication attempts to evidence that, once consciousness has been configured and sentenced to want and incompleteness, it will be, for all of its existence, driven by a desire to find again this original representation or primordial hallucination.Downloads
