Abstract

With the advent of the works of Schopenhauer and Freud, what is admissible and inadmissible in terms of sexuality goes beyond common sense and acquires the status of object of knowledge. In the case of the second, in the twentieth of the Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis (1916-1917), the text brings together Freud’s clinical and theoretical studies on this, especially regarding the connection between perversions and the sexual life of the children. In the case of the first thinker, it is a metaphysical inquiry into sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular. The title of the article refers to the difficulties that the theme naturally offers in terms of language and the ways in which the authors have circumvented this problem and established their thoughts despite the resistances they faced with their respective audiences.
