Abstract

This article aims to discuss the role of hope at old age, as part of a therapeutic process. A bibliographic review was carried out on the subject, through articles and books, and the theoretical reference of D.W.Winnicott was used to make articulations with the theme. Hope was highlighted as a positive factor for a healthy and active aging, being a force to act on the transformations imposed by old age. Hopelessness, helplessness, despair and depression presented themselves as risk factors.
