Abstract

This paper tries to evaluate and discuss the place of psychoanalysis in face of the important and contemporary debate on moral enhancement through biotechnologies. My hypothesis is that the accidentality of existence, our vulnerability, serves as an argument to show that improvement cannot eliminate suffering or the importance of psychoanalysis in dealing with it.
