Abstract

The experience of shame is related to rhe construction of narcissism, mainly to the primitive srage of narcissism, the ideal ego. The passage of the ideal ego to the ego ideal is permitted by castration experiences that gradually weaken the ideal of narcissic onipotence inicially proposed by the other, causing porosities in the narcissist cover of the subject, also causing the failure of the narcissist confirmation. Shame links to a rupture which occurs in this passage, hindering the integration of experiences of castration and the subject's identiry, causing him to be fragile in his relation wirh rhe other, Hence, shame appears during the attempt of integration of the castration trauma to the subjecr's identity, strenghtening him as such.
