Abstract

The experience of shame is related to rhe constructionof narcissism, mainly to the primitive srage of narcissism, the idealego. The passage of the ideal ego to the ego ideal is permitted bycastration experiences that gradually weaken the ideal of narcissiconipotence inicially proposed by the other, causing porosities in thenarcissist cover of the subject, also causing the failure of the narcissistconfirmation. Shame links to a rupture which occurs in this passage,hindering the integration of experiences of castration and the subject'sidentiry, causing him to be fragile in his relation wirh rhe other, Hence,shame appears during the attempt of integration of the castrationtrauma to the subjecr's identity, strenghtening him as such.Key-words: shame; narcissism; castration experiences.
