Beyond the consulting room: Winnicott's therapeutic consultations in the school context

Abstract

The aim of this article is to promote a comprehensive dialogue between Winnicott's psychoanalytic practice known as “therapeutic consultations” and the current school context. For that, some important texts by Winnicott that approach this modality of psychotherapy are taken as reference. In addition, the historical, dynamic and epistemological importance of this clinical style is highlighted, with the intention of thinking about it beyond the limits demarcated by the walls of private practices, especially considering a scenario of social vulnerability and lack of resources.
